Why you need citrulline-malate in your pre-workout

In the category of pre-workout ingredients, there are very few that carry the benefits of citrulline-malate. Listed below are a few key benefits and the main reasons why we use a whopping 7g in our pre-workout formula.

  • Citrulline-malate Increases nitric oxide, blood flow, oxygen and nutrients towards your muscles. This, among other things, leads to the "muscle pump" that we love to seek.
  • Studies have shown that citrulline-malate, when tested against a placebo, may allow you to complete more reps as you progress through your sets. Specifically, this was tested on barbell bench press and showed a 52.92% increase in reps in the third set and a 100% increase in the final set.*
  • Studies have shown that citrulline-malate effectively reduced muscle soreness up to 40% in the 24-48 hours after a workout.*

  • Fun fact: Citrulline is found naturally in high concentrations in watermelon!

So why don't all pre-workouts include citrulline-malate? The answer is simple: This is an expensive ingredient, and most companies aren't willing to dish out extra money for the awesome benefits associated with it.

If you want to get the most out of a pre-workout, make sure it includes at least 6g of citrulline malate.
